Seats

Enlarge the seats by a couple of inches and do away with those front suicide seats. I had to be unfolded from the center of those suicide seats after being crammed inbetween 2 linbackers up there. I should have sent SW a chiropractor bill after that flight.

SW a few years back was better than it is now. I wonder why their service went down. Did their SW flying CEO quit? Their CEO used to fly his own airline just like a customer.

Southwest has had two CEO's since Herb. Also, they re-configured most of the planes with the "suicide" seat configuration, as you call it. The ones that remain are soon to be retired so Southwest decided to keep them as is rather than spend the money to reconfigure them so close to retirement.

Actually in the event of an aborted takeoff and hard braking I would rather be facing the rear like the front jump seats the flight attendants sit in. It's far safer.

Help me out.. what the hell are these so called "suicide seats"? How do they differ from other seats?

Suicide Seats

I believe they're referring to seats that face backward. I have flown with those types of seats on an old California carrier, PSA, many years ago. On a media event a few years ago, a KC-135 tanker out of Edwards AFB had seats put in for us TV and radio folk, and they all faced rear.

Why are they called suicide seats? Many years ago, I was involved in the Falklands War and flew back after the conflict. All the RAF planes had rear facing seats, which we were were considerably safer in an accident...

Very true. That's why I don't understand why they're called that, but they are.
