Bumped Two Days

Continental took it upon themselves to bump me two days on my Paris trip to meet my wife for Valentines Day. I believe if you make a commitment to an airline on a particular day you honor that commitment.

Flight Bumped EWR/Paris, France Flight CO54 2/11/10

More detail is needed, such as where you were travelling from, why you were bumped, etc... however, you are due a fair amount of compo if you were bumped from two separate flights

bumped or was the flight canceled due to weather?

i dont know if it is due to the snow outside making it feel that it has a possibility of the flight(s) being canceled due to the snow, like washington dc they were hit hard and many of the flights there were canceled

Bumped

Of course Continental never told me why and it is impossible to get a live person on the phone. Through a Corporate Travel connection I found out the flight was cancelled - assume because of weather related issues. However, they did not indicate as well whether they offered the first available flight or not.

The flight was from Newark to Paris on CO 54 departing 2/11 8:45 PM. The earlier flight was NOT canceled and I also found out my original flight was completely booked.

Sooooooo I'm not sure what to do and I have not accepted their change yet.

Stay tuned.

hmmm

well i am not sure why they would bump you for 2 days, and the chances are that the flight tomorrow feb 11 will be delayed since here in nj we have 18inches of snow

continental seems to have major issues with their customer service via the phone, seems that no-one ever answers

How is that even an assumption? I'm on the east coast and I can look outside my window and see that's its snowing. Why would you even "assume" it is because of weather, when the fact is it's BECAUSE of weather your flight was cancelled? Wouldn't the fact that most if not all airlines have cancelled all their flights today (in NY/NJ/PHL/IAD/DCA and so forth) be enough NOT to make such an assumption? Come on now.

Rather than complain, get on the phone with reservation, yes you will be there for awhile, and try to rework out something sooner. Or if you're really desperate and i would not advise it, you can go to the Continental counter, but I'm sure they're being bombarded as well. Or if you booked through an agent like orbitx, expedia, travelocity, etc and see if they can rebbok you. I've had the most success with Orbitz among others.

Basically you're upset, and honestly i would be too, but your anger is misdirected. You should try to resolve your problem rather than complaining about it.

my sister lives in Rockville MD just outside of DC and today measured 55 inches of snow in her year :(
and now its snowing in Dallas we have as of 1021am 3 inches on the ground and expecting 7 inches.....7 INCHES in Dallas that is crippling us.

I agree... totally bad weather right now! most airline's not even sure how long would they have to put up those weather waivers they have...

too bad for you that you won't be able to spend Valentine's Day with your wife... =(

Dallas has reached the 10 inch mark and its still falling, this is more snow then we usually get all winter(more then the last 3 winters put together).
For the others in snow areas please remember to be careful shoveling(its a wet and heavy snow) We have had today alone 3 heart attack victims who were shoveling snow(I work as an office administrator in a funeral home).

The further east you go the worse it gets. I read in the news that at Washington Dulles airport they had three general aviation hangars where the roofs collapsed. The picts from the inside show the planes nose up with the roof on the tails.
