Or, between April and now the $250 tickets have sold out leaving the higher priced tiers. The airlines only sale a select number of reservations at a specific rate. That is why it is best to buy now when you see the price is low on airfare and not wait until later.

I don't think it has anything to do with monopilies. The airlines are a business and have the right to charge what they want for their services. Las Vegas is a popular destination. Those reservations are going to go fast which means prices will rise regularly. Don't be surprised if they soon go from $450 to $550 and on. Check for a month later than you are checking now and they may still be at $250, but as that date approaches and reservations for that date begin to go, so will the prices rise; supply and demand. Also, it is the summer approaching, which is travel season, which means more demand, which usually will mean higher prices.
