Ordinarily, under UK law, if you make a purchase on the internet you have 7 days to change your mind for any reason and the vendor must give you your money back. Sadly, there is an exemption for transport. The only way you could get a refund would be at the discretion of KLM. They will not back down, but in reality virtually no airline will. One of the factors built into the business case for some of the fares offered is that it will tempt people to book, who for whatever reason, will nto be able to travel. The airline can then re-sell this ticket. I am afraid, you have to be sure when you book these days.. there is no discretion. You can sometimes backtrack if you bought the ticket via a travel agent.
