Late June 2011, my wife and & I and another couple had flown into JFK from Copenhagen on DL0119. Arrived almost on time and after being on our feet for about 20+ hours, we had a 3 hour layover. So we decided to get something to eat, after which went to gate 16 for our 1 hour connection flight to IAD. Surprise, it's canceled and without any announcement. Surprise, there's no gate agent, only the flight board with the big red letters. Surprise. (not really)..Delta is absolutely no help. They claim it's an ATC cancelation. I didn't know ATC flew their planes.. They kept repeating this mantra, which by the way, relieves them of any responsibility to the passengers.
After verbally beating them, they agreed to give us food & hotel vouchers. The food vouchers were at least worth something ($6.00 each) The hotel voucher was merely a ruse to get us away from the counter and delivered into the hands of one of their "Partners in Crime" ...Meegans Services, in the basement of JFK charged us $250.00 for a hotel room. After this ordeal was over, I checked on the online room rate for the sasme place and it was $97.00/night. So what did Delta pay for? I think they probably got a kickback. The one thing that was vouched for, is that Delta is by far, the worst in the business.
By this week, I know about 10 people that won't ever fly on them... Delta...you're your own worst enemy!....
