Possible, but I don't think so. From what I could see, none of the people ahead of me in line had their seats changed. The agent kept my boarding pass and gave me a small slip of paper instead, so I would've noticed if others had been similarly afflicted. Delta, responding today to my complaint, spoke only of "operational constraints" without any details.
