I don't disagree that its a bad situation for the OP but if the guy doesn't have enough money to buy another airline ticket how is he supposed to afford a lawyer? "Definite case against Delta." Are you an attorney?? Idiotic advice given Delta has a team of lawyers and I'm sure you'd never get enough in damages to cover your own legal cost.
