Return to the comforts of those regulated days
Delta/Northwest, and other US-based airlines, need to wake-up to two realities: (1) They will NEVER be Southwest Air, and, (2) Like any other business, they can NEVER be everything to everyone--AND THEY SHOULD STOP TRYING!!
The sooner we go "back to the future," the sooner we will see a return to civility, reliability, and comfort to domestic air travel. Trains and busses will always be better at handling those who need to travel on the cheap, and for those with special needs. The demands of security, and limited space on an airplane, do NOT make "friendly" environment for the elderly; the handicapped; families with small children; and "people of size." Return coach "seat pitch" to its pre-deregulation dimension; raise fares to a realistic level; pay airline employees a decent wage; and extend decent treatment to employees and customers alike!
Pattis, and other airline people: Since my comments are, most likely, an "affront" to the gospel of the Air Transport Association, I suppose I will, likewise, rate your "immature" dismissal!
