Angry checked in with printed tickets, denied plane access at gate

Checked in on line, printed boarding passes. Got to gate and were told we were. It checked in and the first class seats that we paid for were not available. Had to wait while everyone boarded (and loaded the upper bins) for United to figure out what to do. Finally gave my husband and I seats (apart). All the while the United people were very rude!
