Angry Aug 28 2011CRP to HK 6am Continental Exprsee

Gate attendant (Gate 3 - only one attend there) rebuked me and wife (both 73 yrs old--I am silver elite, wife walks with cane, artificial hip AND knee) for boarding with elite group. When I pointed out I WAS elite on boarding pass, She replied "Well, She isn't" referring to my wife--as though we were trying to do some great crime on a 50 passenger CRJ. At least 7 passengers had already boarded the plane before us. Both of us have been flying long before this high school girl got out of diapers. If this was typical of several employees of Continental, you can be sure we would choose another airline to fly. The rest of our trip to HK was great--your gate attendant at CRP early flight gate needs another class on how salaries are paid or else moved to handling baggage. Cont' Express" is earning new title: "High School Air"

Hi,

I'd write to them.. Let them address the issue.. If you we doing something you were not supposed to be; like out of sequence boarding for example, then the agent would be right and correct to address it.... but... it should be done in an appropriate manner..

I'm not so sure that her age nor your age was a determining factor in the issue. I can appreciate your age and status, as well as the agent's age, but at the end of the day, unless there was some other unusual overriding condition, I don't see anything wrong with an agent enforcing company policy-- again so long as it's done in compliance with actual airline policy (and not some agent made-up one) and done so in a professional manner.

If she wasn't professional, then I think that needs to be reported as it's not OK.. but... if the issue is her (younger than you) age and the fact that she 'called you out' for lack of a better term on the boarding timing, then I see that differently.
