Default Etihad - UNPROFESSIONALISM: should we grin and bear it, pretend its not happenning?

Hi people, I am a frequent flyer to Manila, and I have seen the same unprofessional attitude among the ground crew and cabin crew every time. From the check in people you will find out that your seats have been given away " "Sorry Ma"am, Sir, may I just give you another seat?" which is not a question or an offer but you are being announced that actually we have given your seats to our family or friends or any individual or group we preffer over you who has booked for this seat in advance. defense for this would be the crooked reasoning that redirecting you to some other place which you have not chosen because they have decided to place somebody they know in your seat, is in itself not illegal, but it is highly unprofessional, irritating, inconvenient and is actually bullying, an abuse of position: Im here, you"re not so I get to decide who sits where. Admit it or not these happens in a daily basis in Coral Economy class and the Air waitresses dont look at all happy about doing their jobs. They make faces and look tired and unhappy and unwilling to be disturbed from their chats with their friends who are passengers and whom they have placed infront of them either by proper channel or "REQUESTING" some eager to go home chap who dont complain or dont mind these little surprises ,as they are far too concerned about getting home, they travel once a year, once every two or three years so what the heck if the lady who is in uniform, who is supposed to be looking after my needs and comforts asked me TO CHANGE SEAT WITH THEIR RELATIVE OR FRIEND, OR THAT SOMEBODY"S SWEETHEART GOT A SEPARATE SEAT INSTEAD OF BEING BESIDE EACH OTHER AND WOULD YOU PLEASE SIR, MADAM SWAP PLACES? Either you will find out from the Filipinos at the check in counter before boarding, or when you are seated and your stuff stowed away, that THEY, these ladies usually, have decided that their acquaintance Should be in Your seat. Filipinos do relent and never put up a fight, but it is sickening, this preferential treatment and is a downright, upfront show of LACK OF CONSIDERATION and UNPROFESSIONALISM. yes they ask nicely, but of course, IF YOU WANTED THOSE SEATS BADLY INFRONT OF THE HOSTESS'' SEATS, WHY YOU DIDNT ARRANGE BEFOREHAND INSTEAD OF NICELY GIVING IT AWAY TO YOUR RELATIVES OR FRIENDS OR COLLEAGUE? wHY THEY HIRE PEOPLE WHO SHOW DISGUST AT THEIR PAYING COUNTRYMEN IS BEYOND MY COMPREHENSION. Announcement was given that landing is imminent and use of toilets should stop now,1 elderly gentleman was still inside and an air hostess stood ouside the door fuming, rolling her eyes and mumbling " what a stubborn idiot..." They would excuse their DAILY habit of giving seats away as perfectly natural but not the bladder of the RARE passenger who cannot time his excretory needs. Sounds fair or professional to you? they would excuse themselves but we all know what this is. NO, IT HAPPENS EVERYTIME AND YES IF ANY HIGHER UP WILL NOTICE AND CALL TO ATTENTION THIS PRACTICE, THEY MIGHT STOP, OR BE DISCREET FOR AWHILE BUT UNTIL DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS ARE METED OUT IT WONT STOP, I GUARANTEE YOU THAT. They would rationalize these by saying, oh everybody does it, oh its no big deal, afterall we ask nicely, oh of course youd want to chat with your friends too, or family if it were you and you are in position to do it... NO, NOT EVERBODY. Work, Especially customer service should be sacred, we are talking about real needs here, we are paying passengers, not your servants, not beggars to be treated poorly by the employees of this award winning, national airline of UAE. There is no shortage of good caring professional air waitresses, why they manage to get mostly rude, lazy, inconsiderate ones, not all but most of the Filipino female crew, with that look that says I am too important and I should be somewhere else right now. No, I am not an irate customer, not paranoid or stuck up with personal issues. the long and short of these is have these guys heard of professionalism, discreetness and a genuine smile, or that there are more ways than rude words to insult a patron, say an impatient face as opposed to words, I am paying to fly and be treated accordingly, not to be hostaged by my needs up there in your turf. there is sucha thing as justice as oppposed to some beating round the bush, sorry- for -your-every-flight-inconvenience, if you dont want to see then close your eyes thank you attitude, come again. Please be fair, you will not be in these places forever so, FLY FAIR!!! EY 428 and EY 421 ask yourselves the basic thing, how would you feel if you were on the receiving end, not too great huh. Arrogance can wait after duty, should be just work, hey the pay comes on time right, you look good so act like it too. a little self reminder of the job description might do your attitude some good, right or not?

Might be a legitimate complaint, but please...

let me introduce you to a comma, full stop and a paragraph.

They come in useful when writing your complaint... can I suggest you make friends with them?

yeah, i know what they are called in general, yeah i also happen to know that they help in speech and composition... whatever. maybe next time youll tell me if ive met mr. capitalization. well. anweis the guilty ones in the scenarios i described, not too clearly per scenario im afraid, remain guilty. these abuses are so deeply ingrained in the perpetrators they hardly think anything of it. lets see. a family member of mine is due to come on the morning of 10th from manila and yes she has a reserved seat. lets see coz itsa window seat, if it is on 1st row, the ones with nothing infront of them then its in danger of being given away. cmon, if ground/cabin crew gave your resrved seat away every time you travel i dont think youd be happy about it either, especially if you use this airline a lot. The passengers mostly yield and dont mind because as I said, they are quiet happy just to get home, never mind small disrespect happenning to you or around you, but the fact that its ok with one or two or three, daily doesnt mean it is right, professional, becoming, or kind. its just not right. why we have systems then if it is possible to exchange seats? why we dont just sit where we fancy, why bother requesting for a particular seat then if it is possible for it to be given away before or after you find out. I guess you wouldnt be able to relate if it hadnt happened to your person before and it is easy to do so for the 1st or 2nd time. Front row seats are in demand where you can stretch out your legs and get up to use the john a few steps away... yeah it is not something anybody would complain about if it happens to you only once in a year or two.yeah nobody does anything about it. i wonder why.

Default literal guy.

I seem to remember my highschool English teacher saying things like dramatically and grammatically correct. Forgive the ineptness of my post and I hope to forgive the people who gave away our seats last March14, provided it doesnt happen again. Fat chance. Habits grow on you afterall. Or, professionalism does not happen if the misdeeds are not checked.

The puzzle is.. your last post apologising is articulate and clear, but both posts are unreadable, so we are completely unable to comment on the substance. It's a msytery... but unlikely to be solved.

Unreadable? You classified the work as a mystery, sir. It is ok, whoever has been victimised by such Etihad employees, the cabin and ground crew of the Abu Dhabi-Manila route will know what I am talking about and that is fine by me. Not capital crime, this practice is, but still UNETHICAL,UNPROFESSIONAL, INCONVENIENT.

Ok so we now have an airline that is the cause of such a.... weird post... I still don't get what you're talking about. to me it looks like your upset over a seat change? really? All that over a seat change? I dunno, you're post is all over the place. I tell you what sir, go back, rewrite this again, but instead of writing with anger, drink some herbal tea, maybe listen to some beethoven, get a massage, burn some scented candles, and then with a clear head re-write this so that others may understand exactly to whom and what you're writing about mmm-kay? mmm-kay.
