On our trip to Europe connecting flights were booked too close together, we missed connections both ways. First trip we made it to connecting gate with five minutes to spare, but our seats had already been assigned to stand-bys, so we were diverted on flight to another country, then flown to destination to arrive eight hours late and wait another 24 hours for luggage. On return we had to spend night in motel at our own expence. Gate attendant told us stand-bys are assigned priority on "preferred customer status," not needs or schedules of passengers. :evil: :cry:
