Angry Costly Misinformation $$$$$$

I Made Reservations (dapqpi) To Travel From Newark, Nj To San Antonio, Tx In Order To Attend My Son's Graduation From Usaf
Basic Military Training At Lackland Afb. Travelling With Me Were My Wife And Daughter. Air Force Graduation Ceremonies Were Scheduled For Thursday And Friday Mornings, May 26/27. As An Advantage Member I Purchased Additional Miles In Order To Have Enough For This Very Important Trip. I Was Slated To Fly Out Of Newark, Nj On The Afternoon Of 05-25 On Flt#1235 Dpt
Newark At 4:45 Pm With A Connection At O'hare That Would Put
Me In San Antonio Around 10:10 Pm On The 25th. On The Way To Newark I Received A Voicemail Msg From American Stating That
Flt #1235 Had Been Cancelled Due To Weather/logistical Problems From The Night Before. Devastated, We Headed Back Home. As Soon As We Got Home We Called American, Explained Our Situation To Them And The Aa Rep Told Us She Booked Us On
A Delta Flt Leaving Out Of Jfk That Night And That Delta Would Honor Our Tickets/reservation. We Were Instructed To Simply Bring Our Paperwork To The Delta Counter And That Everything Was Taken Care Of. We Were Ecstatic, A Direct Flt From Jfk To Sat No Less! We Thanked The American Csr Profusely!

Upon Arrival At Jfk We Made Our Way To The Delta Terminal Andexplained Waited On Line. When It Was Our Turn At The Counter The Delta
Rep Stated That They Could Not Honor The Reservation Because There Was No Ticketing Info. I Told Her What I Was Told By Aa But She Stated That In Order For Delta To Get Paid From Aa They Would Need This Info. She Suggested I Either Contact Aa Or Go To The American Terminal At Jfk And Speak To Someone There.
I Left My Wife And Daughter At The Delta Terminal, Took The Skytrain Over To The American Terminal. At The American Terminal I Was Forced To Wait On Line And When I Finally Made It To The Front Of The Line I Explained The Situation I Was In To The Counter Agent. She Could Not Make Heads Or Tail Out Of What I Was Saying And Summoned A Supervisor. After Fumbling Around With The Computer For About 10 Minutes Or So The Supervisor Says To Me Since The Tickets Were Purchased With
Aadvantage Miles The System Could Not Issue Ticketing Info For Me And That I Was Out Of Luck! Wtf! Time Now Being Of The Essence I Sped Back To The Delta Terminal And Braced To Tell My Wife The Bad News. To Make An Already Long Story Shorter, I Wound Up Having To Pay Delta Over $2500.00 For 3 One-way Tickets For The Flight To San Antonio That Night As It Was Imperative We Make It There To Attend Graduation Ceremonies.

I Have Been Back And Forth With American Over This And All They Have Offered Is Their Apologies And A $600.00 Travel Voucher.
I Told Them This Was Simply Not Acceptable. At The Very Least They Could Credit My Advantage Miles With At Least Some
Compensatory Miles But They Stated They Have Done All They Can And Will Close My File!

Please Let Me Be Clear. I Understand That Inclement Weather Can Wreak Logistical Havoc With An Airlines Schedule. If This
Were The Case Here And Nothing Else Occured There's Not Much
Of Anything I Could Complain Of. But To Be Given Bum Information, Directed To Drive To Another Airport, And Told That Another Airline Would Honor My Existing Reservation And Then Be Rebuffed By Both Airlines Is Simply Not Acceptable.

American Airlines, Please Do The Right Thing!!!!!

Personally, If I have a very important event to attend, a cruise to catch, a wedding to witness, a bar exam to take..yes I really had someone cry at me because the snow storm canceled the last flight before his MAJOR LIFE CHANGING BAR EXAM...I don't wait til the last flight to travel. Big advice. Major events, get there a day ahead and relax.

Did you read the complaint? They were arriving a day ahead. The ceremonies were The 26/27 and the flight was booked for the 25th. What is it with airline employees? Are they incapable of understanding customers or just stupid?
