Wait policy for delayed flights?
I'm curious what United Airlines policy is regarding waiting for passengers whose connecting flight (also United) got delayed?
I was en route to Chico from Baltimore via Cleveland and San Francisco. Our Cleveland-SF flight was delayed, and we had to deplane at the International gates section at SFO. SF-Chico flights are via United express, typically out of Gate 37 in Terminal 1. Not only did the United staff not give priority deplaning to passengers with connecting flights across the airport, but when I got to the gate by 9:55pm I was informed I cannot board the plane as the doors have been closed (flight does not leave until 10:05). The attendant was no help and we were basically told we could not board. Worse, I later found out that although the plane was scheduled to depart at 10:05 the manifest shows that they departed at 9:58 and arrived at 10:45 (scheduled to arrive 10:58). So much for customer service ... It appears the pilot/crew made a decision that this was their last flight and they did not even have the courtesy to check the status of their passengers ... I'm sure they have the information on delayed connecting flights and gates that those planes are letting passengers out ...
This is extremely frustrating and disappointing!
