Default Unable to Check-in Online or Kiosk

Recently I am experiencing some difficulties in checking in online or via the kiosk with Air Canada. It doesn't happen with any other airline - so I'm not on a no-fly list.
I am always forced to use the agent to check-in and they always must make a lenghy phone call to determine whether I can check in or not.
The agent tells me that there may be some other passenger with my name who has issues with the carrier and they advise me to book using the Aeroplan number - which I always do.
Now they are telling me I must get a certified/notarized copy of my passport and aeroplan card to verify my identity with the agent - thus making it my problem.
I've never had an issue with the airline before, I've complained, but they can't give me a satisfactory answer as to why this is occurring all of a sudden.
Anyone had a similar issue and how did you solve it?

Thanks in advance.

I have this same problem! And they don't seem to be any help. And the agents at the airport are always annoyed that I come to them to check in. I recently applied for an aeroplan number because, like you, they assured me this would help. I"m sorry to hear that it doesn't, and may even make it worse. Like you, I have no trouble on any other airline.

I feel like I"m being treated like a 2nd class citizen. It also irritates me that everyone else on my flight gets to check in early via web, so they already have their seats booked. Anyone that has booked with me can't web check in either, so by the time we get to the airport and check in, there are no seats together available, and I don't get to sit with my travelling companions. Let me tell you, this is exteremely frustrating when travelling with my infant daughter, and I'm not able to sit with my husband for help!!

You may not be on an actual no-fly list, but you still may be a selectee, which is picked by the computer. They don't tell us what the criteria are to be a selectee, but I do know that I've see plenty of one ways, cash, etc not get picked, and plenty of round trip, credit card, etc get picked.

They should not be rude, however at the same time they are not allowed to discuss with the passengers what is going on. So they may know the reason why, but by law they cannot tell you.
