Poor communication UA 96 7//10/13
UA 96 EWR to TXL on 7/10/13 was delayed but there were few if any announcements at the gate area other than to announce a delay and that it could be followed on either a smartphone or computer and that every 20 minutes there would be a PA announcement. There were no PA announcements and when checking at the desk, the agent claims to have made PA announcements. Neither I nor my wife nor others in the gate area heard any announcements. The agent lied to us as we are not deaf. Later an announcement was made as to a gate change from C75 to I believe it was C138 (the other end of the airport. Everyone rushed to the new gate but the plane was not there yet. Had we been told that, we would not have had to rush and wait at least 30 more minutes.
Complained to United about above, received a "Customer appreciation" reply on 8/1/13 with an apology, nothing else.
