Default ruined vacation

travelling to miami 04/04/09 from london airline lost baggage , had to buy clothes, we were going on a cruise it took them 5 days to reunite them with us , last port of call.it ruined our cruise ,. on our way home landed in dallas missed our connection, they said it was not there fault left us to our own devices with 2 small children and 2 adults no baggage , again had to buy more clothes .no flghts for 2 days they gave us distressed travellers rates at a hotel they took nothing to do with us, flew into jfk pilot declared emergency no fuel to circle jfk for landing diverted to newark , best bit of luck , connecting flight with continental, when landed plane followed by 4 fire trucks and 3 police cars, best bit of luck managed to get off at newark and made connecting flight, AA have offered an $800 travel voucher for future travel with them, they can stick it, no offer of reinbursement or compensation for troubles . the staff are very rude , bad mannered and unhelpful, out of pocket a lot of money any suggestions

I'm sure you have a legitimate complaint, however, it's pretty hard trying to understand your complaint from the way it is written.

I agree, it is very hard to decifer this complaint... too little detail. For example, why you missed your connection in Dallas.

Just for information, declaring a fuel emergency does not mean you were at risk. The airlines must carry enough fuel to hold for a certain period of time and then divert to an alternative airport. Your captain diverted and declared a fuel emergency. This declaration is required in order for ATC to give the airline priority landing. Once this declaration is made, the emergency response is automatically triggered. Again it is precautionary, but it does not imply that you were in any danger.

Anyway, I hope you can clarify this complaint.. as it stands it is hard to know what to advise.
