Thumbs down FIRST CLASS flight credit not honored. I was lied to!

When I had to cancel a FIRST CLASS ticket for a domestic flight I was told by Michelle in customer service that the full credit could be applied toward a humanitarian flight I needed to book for a young man coming to America for reconstructive surgery after his hands were burned in the Liberian civil war. Our church is sponsoring his trip and the Shriner's Hospital in Portland, OR has donated the surgeries. While trying to book that flight today I discovered that Michelle lied to me and that I could not use the flight credit. I talked with a RUDE and IMPATIENT customer service supervisor in Salt Lake City who denied my request for further assistance. IS THIS THE WAY DELTA TREATS ALL OF THEIR FIRST CLASS CUSTOMERS?

Was your original ticket fully refundable or did it have restrictions. Delta has some "first class" fares which are actually economy fares disguised with an automatic upgrade. They are still non-refundable and non-transferrable. If a Delta agent told you an exception to those rules would be made for your specific situation did you get the name of the agent or make a record of the date and time of the call? You can ask Dekta to reeview the recorded phone call and hopefully they will make good on the offer the original agent made to you.

Default I have some info recorded

Great idea about the review on the phone call. I have the day (June 14, 2011) and the first name (Michelle) of the person I called. I can look at my phone records to see if I can find what time of day I made the call. I explained to Michelle that I had purchased a first class ticket and she said that I would not be able to be refunded in cash, but that all of the flight credit could be applied toward the humanitarian ticket for the two men flying in from Liberia. (She knew that I would not be on that African flight.)

t is and you can change it! Post your story on every complaint site that you can find. Google, "Delta complaints" and post your story in as many places as you can. Tell your friends and ask them to tell their friends. Eventually, there will be a change. Until about 4-5 years ago, this was not the case with Delta. They were the best. Sadly, not so much these days.
