Delta scam
Delta fraudulently sells seats on flights then cancels the flights at the very last minute- when travelers are already at the gate (like we have nothing else to do).
6:15am flight 1937 was scheduled to leave Baltimore on 8-8-2019. I left my house at 4 am to get to BWI on time and was not informed of the cancellation until I got a txt message from Delta at 6:23 am- AFTER the departure time. No explanation given, the weather was clear. Delta rebooked me to a flight 2 hours later (thanks *******s, I could have slept), with a connection in Atlanta - flight 2269, to DFW, my final destination. Once my BWI-ATL flight landed, I sprinted to the T terminal to get to my gate for 2269. I arrived at the gate at 10:55 - 12 minutes before scheduled departure time - and found that Delta had closed the door and refused to let me board the plane - for the flight THEY scheduled after cancelling my original flight. I wound up on standby for the next flight to DFW, arriving several hours later than expected for a work. Having witnessed angry groups of standby passengers at Delta gates during travel to and from DFW and having talked with several of them, it seems apparent that Delta: 1. Cancels flights it does not expect to profit significantly from (empty seats), forcing cancelled travelers into standby status on subsequent flights, then Delta 2. With a constant pool of standby passengers from the flights it cancels, Delta gives seats to those standby passengers well ahead of departure time, leaving ticketed passengers in the dust, forcing THEM into standby status. Hey Delta: 1. If you take payment for something and then don't do that thing, that's called fraud. There was a reason I booked my flights for when I did. There's no excuse for the last minute cancellation. You showed total disregard for me and everyone else on that flight you cancelled. 2. If a departure time is 11:07, a reasonable person with a ticket arriving at the gate at 10:55 would expect to be able to take her seat. You knew my first flight had landed and that I was there at the airport when you gave my seat away to another of your victims on standby. I imagine Delta thinks it's more important to get points for "on time departures" than it is to do what it said it would do for its paying customers. But I for one am DONE. Two days of driving would've been a lot less stressful. |
