I have tried to cancel my membership online, but there is no way to do it in Spirit website. Spirit Airlines says they will charge 59.95 to my credit card in their record, otherwise cancellation is to be done by mail and they say it will take more than 6 weeks (it will be automatically renewed in 2 weeks). How can I stop Spirit from "stealing" my money. They do not give a choice in their webpage for proccesing cancelation of the membership.

Write by registered letter telling them to cancel the membership. Copy thus letter to your bank. They cannot require six weeks notice unless you agreed to this in your original contract. The fact that it takes them 6 weeks to process customer requests is irrelevant. If they charge you, you are entitled to a refund and you can sue in small claims. It all depends on the terms of your original agreement.
Incidentally, you can ask the credit card to reverse the charge, if you can prove you cancelled the charge I. Time. The certified letter to your bank and Spirit should be sufficient proof you did this. |
