Air Canada is completely incompetent. We were one of the first to check in to our 6am flight when the desk clerk told us we would have to fly stand by as they needed to add fuel to the plane and possibly remove passengers.
Although we were eager to get back to Edmonton from New Brunswick we were ok with taking a later flight as long as it got us home. As it turned out we got to be on the flight and the gentleman checking our boarding pass and id at the gate had nothing but bad things to say about his colleague and told us she over reacted and there was no need to put us on standby. As a result of this fuel addition, mine along with others on the flight had their bags removed with no notification with the airline so when we reached our destination noone could tell us where our luggage was. in addition to that, my partner's bag made it to Edmonton, however they had opened the bag and left it open allowing us to lose baby clothes and gifts from our families to our unborn child. As if this was not enough, when I finally had my luggage delivered to my home, the man who delivered it tried to leave my bag on the stoop of my building without even having my sign anything. I watched him from my entrance as he found my bag in the back of his van, dropped it off on my stoop then got in his van to leave. He somehow thought it was funny when I had to run after him in -25 weather to not only request he bring my bag in for me as I am pregnant but to tell him how to do his job as I know there should be something for me to sign. I have been flying with air canada for years and have not have baggage issues. I was completely shocked that this is how they handle these problems. Not the mention the mistrust i have in their handlers now that I know they go through luggage.I fly back east all the time to see my family and I absolutely will NEVER be choosing to fly with Air Canada ever again.
