Upon approaching the gate, I observed the Gate agent screaming at three Asians boarding the flight "Go, go, go!" They were in their late 60s or 70s. Although the understood little English, they were not hard of hearing. When I said something to the gate agent, they threatened not to allow me on the flight. Then I handed my boarding pass. It's not I uncommon to get another one issued at the gate. That's exactly what happened". It was not until I boarded and looked at the ticket that I realized I did not have the seat,for which, I paid $61. I then approached the gate agent by the galley and was told I was not "here on time". How could I not have been here if I had checked in and checked baggage? The gate agent said "sit down or I will throw you out". I reached for my cell phone and he fled. We are still waiting to get out. It's 7:35 am. This is not what I expect from American! I am appalled at the abuse of authority and terrible treatment
