You can get a receipt, but...
I checked in for my flight from ORD to LAX online on Saturday. I know I'm going to have to pay to check one of my bags, so rather than check in using the hotel's business center which is attached to a printer, I use my personal computer (so that I don't risk entering personal data or credit card info into a public system). Everything's fine, but no receipt unless I print it immediately. I should have printed it to a PDF, and that's what I'll do in the future now that I know what happens if you don't print it immediately.
After searching at length for a place to download a receipt and the answer to this question and being forced to call a United customer services rep to answer the question, after sitting on hold for a lengthy period of time, I was finally told that yes, I can have a receipt - but it will take them 14 days to email it to me. SERIOUSLY??? 14 DAYS??? What in the world could POSSIBLY take that long? But hey, they're waiving the $20 fee to issue a receipt because I made the request within 7 days of the flight. SERIOUSLY? If I'd waited a little longer, I'd have to pay a $20 fee to get a receipt for a $35 baggage fee???? You know what my company's going to say if my expense report is turned in two weeks from now? Theyr'e going to say, "Seriously??!" United since the merger just stinks. |
