LIFE Threatening lost luggage !!! HELP Need answers today!!
HELP! My son is a severe asthmatic and his grand father has advanced systemic lupus. Last night they packed their bag and checked in it in on to their Spirit Airline Flight from Mesa Gateway Airport to DFW Texas Airport... Their suitcase that was paid for and checked in with all their life saving medications did not arrive in DFW with them. And, may have went on to Ft Lauderdale Airport Florida... I do not understand once my son and his grandfather noticed filed a claim with Spirit, was DFW Spirit not on Email or Phone to Lauderdale Florida Spirit being proactive in the claim of this very important and physically vital suit case... I did try calling the DFW Manager (Pauline Kanouse) who was stated to be "supposedly" making “great changes” in DFW to only get a response that it is her day off and she would call if they found the luggage! But the we need a call even if the luggage isnt found as we can't just refill some of these specialist meds. I do not understand the malaise and latent response in this small airline who is trying to break way into the industry. Why aren't they pushing the limits for their valued paying customers that put good faith in paying for luggage claim to reach point a-b with them... So far my son was in urgent care this morning to get an emergency treatment. I fear I will have to find him and his grandfather a way home for their health if we can not locate this bag with the medications on it. Spirits limited contact information and service is currently preventing me from making a decision to fly out with medications to these individuals as these meds can not be refilled on a weekend without a dr., or to fly these individuals home. They stated that I will only be contacted if they find the luggage which is most likely in Ft Lauderdale at spirit... Two lives medical condition rely upon this and the airline does not care nor want to correct their mistake for these two passengers, one being a child....

just curious, why werent they in their carry-on? i would never put medication (thats life threatening) in checked luggage.
I am not sure what you best option is other than having their doctor fax over the subscriptions forms and getting another doctor or pharmacy where they are to get more medication bags go missing all the time unfortunately, thats an unfortunate side effect of the travel business, bags somehow dont make it on the flight, they arent tracked properly and while it is extremely important to get their bags ASAP things happen, and they should be held accountable for missing the bags but i am surprised that you didnt have a plan if something like this happens hopefully your family members will be in good health soon |

Spirit doesn't care about their customers. Their CEO has even said he doesn't care if he loses a customer because someone else will step up and pay their cheap fares for their lousy product.
That said, I don't know why anyone would pack life saving meds in checked luggage. What if you needed them during the flight!!?? |

You should assume Spirit will do nothing and act accordingly. If life threatening meds are at stake, do what you can to ensure the safety of your family. Do not trust a word of what Spirit say.
It was foolish to trust Spirit, but in reality, it was a major mistake to put this in luggage travelling with any airline. Such safety critical items should always be in hand luggage. Good luck. |
