No Room for the Military
You would think, that due to the large volume of soldiers returning each day at the DFW airport, that American Airlines would allow just a little wiggle room for soldiers to get a flight back home from DFW at a decent time to be with their families. Instead, as a result of constant overbooking of thier flights, and American Airlines wanting to make that precious dollar, soldiers are required to wait another day, when a seat becomes available. Common sense should play in their planning since the largest military post in the US Army is in Texas.
To all those who bravely serve this country. American Airlines salutes you!Rather, when they can find the time to get you a seat on one of their planes, in a day or two. |

What's your complaint? That you were involuntarily bumped due to overbooking? If that's the case, you are due compensation. Forget writing to AA and take your complaint directly to the DOT. Click here to start that process.
If that's not the case, what is? |

On a similar but reverse note, I flew Delta the other day and was amazed when Delta announced over the airplane PA system that they were upgrading the soldier on board to First Class. Everyone cheered. And AGAIN on landing they thanked our military.

So lets see where this goes. Airlines should offer a little something extra to those serving. Ok, how about those of us who did serve? Do we also get something better in the way of treatment?
My Dad served in WWII. He didn't get any kind of special treatment coming home. My brother and I served during Vietnam and the Cold War, we sure has heck didn't receive any special treatment. My point being, they enlisted, they serve. They're entitled to the benefits the government gives them in pay and such. The "New Patriotism" that bestows hero status on anyone in uniform can wear pretty thin with vets. A service member getting home has to deal with transportation the same as anyone else. That's what America is about. |

Um yes I agree those who served should get the seat availability as well if it's there. I would rather see them upgrade military than a standby
Sorry missing your point. |

i fly our military (they are truely a pleasure to serve on our flights and im completly honord to serve them). I was told by them that they have confirmed seats on flights (thats why its extremly important for my company to have an on-time/early arrival into DFW during our flights) so that our troops make their flights. HOWEVER, if they choose they can fly stand by on an earlier flight. MANY times i have seen American airlines upgrade a soldier to first class, i have seen a passenger give up his first class seat that he paid for a troop (gotta love that american spirit) and i have seen American airlines put a few of our troops on earlier flights for free.

Sleeping at DFW Airport??

“Cortney” (a self-identified* American Air employee) wrote: MANY times i have seen American airlines upgrade a soldier to first class, i have seen a passenger give up his first class seat that he paid for a troop (gotta love that american spirit) and i have seen American airlines put a few of our troops on earlier flights for free. On the chance that “Upset’s” version is more accurate than “Cortney’s:” Amtrak leaves Fort Worth, for St. Louis and Chicago, every day at 2:20 PM. There are connections in Chicago for points in the Northwest and Northeast. Also, Southwest Air flies from Love Field (about 5 miles from downtown Dallas.) * Cortney “outed” herself/himself as follows: (thats why its extremly important for my company to have an on-time/early arrival into DFW during our flights)

Outed myself?? How Butch?? yes im an airline employee. im a flight attendant. NO...I dont work for AA, nor will i ever work for AA, United, Delta or Northwest. Guess your wrong if thats what you were thinking. I work for a charter company. we did R&R flights in and out of dallas, I believe world or omni is doing them for the next 2-3 months, but then we get them again. If the flights for the airline i work for are delayed, then of course our military men/women miss their connecting flights to their homes. outed myself?? NOPE!! HA
