Angry Kicked off flight US Airways 954 for pet

I am thoroughly disgusted with US Airways and promise to NEVER fly with them again. On Wednesday (yesterday) I arrived to Ft Lauderdale airport to check in and to pay my pet fee for my puppy. My boarding pass was stamped "Pet Fees Collected" and I also received a boarding pass for my pet. I went through security and went straight to the gate because the plane was boarding. When I got on the plane, the flight attendant said "you have to put the dog in the bag". I said I was aware. He followed me saying "the dog has to stay in the bag the entire flight". I told him I am aware as I flew into Ft. Lauderdale just a few days prior. When I got to my seat, I put the dog and his carrier on the seat while tring to place my other bag in the overhead. As soon as I sat down, the flight attendant came to my seat (speaking very loudly) that the dog goes in the bag now. I said sir I am aware, just give me a minute to get organized. He continued to get loud saying put the dog in the bag as I had the dog in one hand and the carrier on my lap. He then yelled to the front of the plane for everyone to stop boarding and that noone else could board until I got the dog in the bag. As I am putting the dog in the bag he continued to stand over me. After I zipped up the bag and placed it on the floor, the flight attendant yelled "ladies and gentlemen oh she finally understands" as he was turning away. As I went to reach for my cell phone, he turned to a passenger about 3 or 4 rows above me saying "I should kick her off the flight noone wants to be bothered with a dog anyway". The passenger said yeah kick her off because no one wants a dog on the plane anyway. He went and got the gate supervisor to pull me off the plane.

If I was not allowed to fly with my dog, you should have taken my money. I was supposed to get to Philadelphia at 10:00 they put me on a flight that was supposed to land at 3:00pm. Wasted a whole day with US Airways. When my mom went to find out what was going on, she was told that they have received numerous complaints against the particular flight attendant. If that is really the case, WHY IS HE STILL THERE??? I want a refund and an apology immediately.

The dog was supposed to be in it's carrier from the moment you entered the terminal, and certainly before you entered the aircraft. If the dog had gotten away from you while everyone else was still trying to board, there could have been an accident, someone getting hurt tripping over your dog, or injuring the dog.

One only needs to go back to Dec. 2010 when this occured:
US Airways Flight Diverted After Dog Bites Passenger, Crew

December 8, 2010 | Posted in: Pets, Tips and Tricks, US Airways

Did you hear the story about the dog with “jet rage”? It kind of reminded me of that angry JetBlue flight attendant who cursed out passengers and eventually left the aircraft via the emergency slide. But at least he didn’t bite anyone.

Mandy, a 12 pound Manchester terrier did bite. She bit a passenger and crew member and ran up and down the aisle of a US Airway Newark to Phoenix flight, barking all the way. The plane had to make an emergency landing in Pittsburgh (a precautionary measure – no one was badly hurt).
What happened? Mandy’s owner – an 89-year old woman from New Jersey – let Mandy out of her cage.

Big mistake. You are not allowed to let an animal out of its cage on a plane. Little Mandy showed us why!

That’s just one of things you’ll learn in my new article called “Pet Travel Tips for the Holidays“. It’s handy if you’re bringing Sparky home for Christmas, and it’s handy anytime you want to travel with your best friend. There’s a fun video in the article too featuring yours truly and a Basset hound named Clementine.

A note of caution: as I point out in the article, not all animals are good travelers, and some cats and dogs might be better left at home. Like Mandy.
