Boarded a plane with someone else's boarding pass!! and then get kicked off!!
I want to let everyone know the most ridiculous travel experience in my life. My reservation was made on CO 647 from Chicago to Houston on 6/26/2011. I was given a boarding pass at the check-in counter with the same last name but similar first name (Jiani instead of Jenny). Initially I thought it was a typo mistake by the agent and because of the time constraint (long check-in time and so flight was leaving in 40 mins) and long security line, I decided to go straight to the gate and have them call the airline in case I was stopped. I was able to get through security checkpoint and gate agent with a boarding pass that didn't matched my ID name. I boarded the plane and found another woman in the seat I was given. The flight attendant thought the tickets were doubled booked when she contacted the gate via phone. I waited patiently on the plane for 10 min until a rude gate agent approached me and told me to get off the plane. I could not get an explanation from the agent and complained that if it's a double booking it would be unfair that I am the one who had to get off. She remained very rude and would not give me an explanation and insisted that I need to get off the plane. After a long wait at the gate, I was finally informed that I had no reservation for this flight because of an cancellation on my previous flight on United Airline UA 6931. During the standby and rebooking process, the UA agent had replaced the rest of my trip with the new reservation and did not realize he had made such mistake. So without a reservation, I was able to get another woman's boarding pass, make it through security at Chicago airport and boarded the plane to find her in the seat i was given, then get kicked off the plane. Can you imagine my frustration? Isn't it unbelievable? During the process, I was treated by rude agents and also never received any apologies from anybody for their screw up. Both airline (united and continental) just pointed fingers at the other airline and blamed the situation on the other airline. It is an embarrassment that the two airlines that had merged do not care about their franchise and as a result I would advise everyone to avoid all future travel on these airlines.
