Reserved Seats Sold - $1k Rebooking fee
Arrived at CDG Airport in Paris with 90 minutes to spare for flight to PHL (USA). Approached AA worker to ensure we would have enough time and was told PHL flight was full. Showed our booking info and was told flight overbooked and seats given away. Went to counter to speak with Customer Service and was told same thing. Were told there were only 3 seats avail on flight to Miami and it would be ~$1,000! Requested supervisor who was no help. Looked at all kinds of scenarios (trans thru London, waiting till Sunday, etc, etc). Finally had no choice but to accept flight to Miami and fees. They actually used this against me saying I didn't check in till 9:56 for my 10:45 flight. IT was 9:56 by the time we went round and round with these people. We got ticketed, randomly pulled aside for questionnaires, made it through security scanners, stopped for a snack, and still made it to the gate to see our plane sitting at the gate. Unbelievable!
Of course, customer service was absolutely NO HELP! You cant talk to anyone. They are happy to take your money, but will not call to assist when you have a problem. I got suckered into a cheap fare. No doubt they have figured out how to take your money in other ways.
Also, the planes from Paris to Miami and Miami to Philly were just awful. I cant tell you the last time I traveled international where there were no TVs in the seat backs. Entertainment included a cartoon movie and then some lousy NBC programming. Such an awful experience.
