This is the first time I had miles expire on a frequent flier program. I had 82K miles expire on 2/1/15. I reached out to customer service on 2/18/15 via email and received an email that it would cost $200 to re-instate the miles and they provided a chart for the cost of different mileage amounts. I advised that I would re-instate within the next few weeks. I went to do just that yesterday on 3/12/15 and was surprised to find out that the cost went from $200 to $500 dollars. I reached out to customer service again and they said the price is subject to change at anytime. That price changed on 2/25 one week after my initial email and nowhere did it state that it was subject to change or was about to change. Very disappointed when United replied that they would not honor the $200 amount that I was quoted just 3 weeks ago. All those miles were earned from flying with them and will reconsider in the future.
