is there a Gate Agent Theft Ring?? AZ 433
On Friday, May 18, 2018: We arrived early at our gate to board flight AZ 433 from Munich to Rome with a continued flight AZ 1719 from Rome to Catania. Despite having small carry-on bags and among the first 10 or 15 passengers to board, we were forced to check our bags at the gate.
I think we were targeted by the ALITALIA GATE AGENT. Clearly the overhead compartments had not yet been filled. The line was crowded, and the agent, was rushing us through the process with no discussion. He promised that the bags would be checked through to Catania.
The short version is that our bags got stuck in Rome, and were delivered the next day, BUT the bags had been search through - even the medicine packs. The only things that were stolen were 3 items of jewelry about $2,500 total value. They left all the costume stuff. I think the ALITALIA GATE AGENT has colleagues in the baggage handling area to do this.
My wife filed all the forms for the police and Alitalia. The customer service representative had the audacity to say we were negligent because, "one is not supposed to pack items of value in checked bags"!!!!
Is there any way to get any satisfaction from this? Does anyone have contact info for the ALITALIA CEO?
