Default Delta Lost my luggage on a direct flight

Hello,
I am currently shocked and disillusioned with the way things are right now concerning my luggage with delta, this is my second time of using them it will also be my last time to ever travel with them.I am a frequent flier and i have used so many airlines both in the U.S and internationally my experience with delta has to be the worst i have ever encountered in my travels.
I departed from Toronto on the 22nd of December to JFK in New York at about 6.15am and my arrival to JFK and on receiving my suitcase there was a huge tear by the side of the suitcase i could not believe it the zipper was halfway opened and i was so frightened because i knew things may have fallen out. True to my suspicion all my expensive bottles of perfume FOUR to be exact had all disappeared i was so distraught and i reported straight to the delta office at JFK ,the agents did not appear too sympathetic my box was so damaged i could not even carry it out of the airport.I filed a claim with the AGENT and she said i will not be reimbursed for the Suitcase since it was Older than two years but i gave her details of the missing items and she gave me some forms to mail to customer care and a file reference number. I filled out the forms mailed it with the receipts for the items, they had ruined xmas for me because i was giving the perfumes as gifts to my family. The file reference number also did not work on their website it kept on saying invalid, i called another AGENT on 1800-325-8224 and he said i should have faxed in the forms instead that they do not deal with mails i was very upset at this point.
Thinking things cant get much worse time to go back to TORONTO on my return trip from JFK, I met a rude almost illiterate TICKET agent i told her i was going to Toronto and you wont believe what she did she turned and asked her partner "where was TORONTO?" i WAS SO AMAZED!!!!!!!!!!!
She was very unhelpful ,rude black lady wearing a black hat i was incensed at her attitude. I got on the flight like half the plane was full uneventful flight only to get to Toronto my black suitcase is missing WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!
The carousel had stopped saw my other suitcase on the floor where was the black one ?? I was in shock went to the delta counter in the Toronto airport what did they say?they took my details and are like my bag was scanned at JFK they are sure it is on the next plane to Toronto i should go home they will deliver it .
I felt a premonition what if my bag is missing or the tag came off and they cant find it or someone stole it, i have been calling delta everyday i speak to a different AGENT all they do is take an inventory of what is in the bag and then they apologise. Today will be the 5th day and i have items that are meant for people in the suitcase, expensive new clothes not yet worn, shoes bags all very pricey
please people advice me how do i deal with delta? What should i do to recover my loss? Do you think my suitcase will be found?

well your bag maybe found in the next few days, with delta saying sorry for the inconvieniance it was misplaced and now we have lovated it, it will get to you very shortly......or who knows it is delta they may say oh we sent it to you the delivering company has it

if they dont find it then they will send you money but they wont cover the full cost of your expensive clothes bags and shoes, especially if you dont have receipts for them, which would be understandable since people would be crying that their $5000 bag was stolen when they knew that their bag was only $5.

with your first suitcase on the way to NY the bags may have been searched by TSA (security) so they may have been the ones to take the perfume, and its hard to find out who took what and where, as for the bag itself the motion of the plane (turbulance and landing) with the bag grinding upto another object can sometimes cause the bag to open, not sure why there would be a cut though.........i remember that i was flying EWR to LHR a few years ago and i watched my suitcase get onto the plane (it being very recognizable) and at the gate we were help up for some reason but they were taking the bags off and i saw my bag stuck to another, the zips had somehow tangled together during the flight and caused them to open a good amount....i saw the guy picking up the bags and putting them in the carrier chuckle when he saw this and threw his hands up like wow this is a first....it was pretty funny

but good luck with everything and hopefully you will get your suitcase back asap......but its delta so dont count on them doing anything right

well i dont think they lost it on the plane, that be very hard to do, so my guess is that it was either misplaced at the origin, at the destination, but i wouldnt be suprised if it went on a different flight to a different airport so no matter how hard they look they are prob looking in the wrong place

maybe for example the airport code at origin was abc and the handlers accidently put it on the wrong plane.....not defending them just offering an opinion, they are still responsible for that and there are no excuses

so give them a week to see if anything changes and if not than ask for them to reimburse you for your losses

For Delta, that compensation is not too bad..but you are better to avoid this nightmare of an airline in future. They are arrogant and heartless.
