Default Take Responsibility!!

Hey everyone:

I've been a fan of this site for some time, but just signed up so that I could give my opinions to things people say. Now, before I continue, I do have to say that I love love love flying. Idk, maybe I'm weird, but the thrill of take-off and everything, I find any excuse to fly.

I do know that Airlines are now starting to profit more and more with excessive fee's and it annoys me, but what annoys me more is people who won't take responsibility for their own actions and blame the Airlines for everything.

#1 - Arriving Late for Your Flight:
I've seen people on here complain about not being able to get on their flight and getting charged to rebook, when they were late for their flight. They expect the airline to compensate and when they don't, they get mad, because the airline wouldn't compensate because the passenger was late.

Should the airline compensate you if you're late? Nope! Should you get charged to rebook on another flight? Yes, but honestly not as much as they charge you.

If I was running an airline, I would do the following:
#1 - Book you on the next available flight. You paid for a ticket, so I'd do what I can to get you on the next flight that has a seat open.

#2 - Charge you a $25 (USD) rebooking fee.

#3 - If a flight isn't available for more then 24 hrs from your original time, You would have Several Options:

Option #1: No Refund and continue to wait until the next available flight.
Option #2: Full Refund with no new flight booked.
Option #3: Your entire trip would be canceled and you would be issued a 35% Refund and you would be issued a "Flex Pass". This "Flex Pass" would be equal to the cost of your initial trip that you can use for any future flight, within 6 months of your original flight.

I'm all about customer service. To me, Option 3 would be a great option to choose. Look at it like this.

Flight Cost - $700
Reimbursed - $245
Flex Pass Issued at - $700
Next Flight Cost - $1,000
Minus Flex Pass - $300.

$1,000 flight for only $300? Oh yeah. I'll take that!! Does the logic work?

The biggest way you can fix this issue, is to show up to your flights early. Simple and easy as that!

#2 - Mad because of a kid screaming!

Ok, yes, it is annoying if a kid is screaming on a flight, but come on, they're kids. Get over it. I flew to Australia and at times a baby was crying and I just put on my headphones and ignored it. They have just as much right to be on the plane as you. If you don't want a kid screaming on your plane, then get a First Class Ticket or get your own private jet.

#3 - Picking Up Your Own Mess

Oh, this one got me going. I saw the post where someone was irate because the Attendants asked everyone to fold up their blankets and bring their trash to the front of the plane. What's so wrong with cleaning up after yourself?
I use to work in a Movie Theater and I HATED when guests would throw their popcorn and junk all over the ground.

You're all adults right? Pick up your crap! Yes, you're not paid to clean up the plane, but how hard is it to fold up the blanket you used and to put your trash into a plastic bag? Geez. If I heard that announcement, I would gladly take my trash and give if to them. I would fold up my blanket. Be adults and clean up after yourself.

#4 - Feeling of Entitlement

Well, #4 will be my last one of my little "rant" lol. I've seen as though people feel like they're entitled to things when they get on a plane. If something doesn't go their way, they get ticked, yell at the Customer Service Agents, Flight Attendants, anyone who gets in their way. They feel that "I bought my ticket, now BOW TO ME AND DO AS I SAY".

People, grow up. When things go wrong and you don't get what you want, is it really necessary to yell and scream? People on here talk about CSA's and such being crabby and not being pleasant. Well, you reap what you sow. There was a time where I had an issue with an airline due to excessive delays. While everyone around me was getting mad, I was calm. I went up to the Gate Agent, and I apologized for the people around me. The Gate Agent was very very pleased with the respect I gave him and how nice I was to him. I still got back home, they even gave me a Comp. Hotel Room, cause I couldn't make my connection and my connection flight was now the next morning. All because I was very nice, polite and understanding.

Instead of blowing up at those people, try being nice, calm and understanding. Yelling, screaming and cursing at them gets you no-where and they will be less likely to help you.

Please guys, take responsibility for your own actions. If you are the cause of your problem with the Airline, don't get ticked if you don't get your way. I know many of you won't like this post, but what I love about the USA is, I can say what I want. I can have an opinion!! Feel free to comment.

amen to #3!!! I cant tell you how many times i go up and downt the aircraft picking up trash. once all our passengers are off, it still looks like i flew a bunch of preschoolers. I did a texas college football team a few years ago to hawaii for their bowl game, chocolate pudding smudged all over the floor!! trash on the floor. You (at least i hope not) wouldnt do it at home, why do it on an airplane?!

How about all those things in exchange for nothing being taken out of my check in luggage. Deal?
