Default About Cathay Pacific fooling their own customers

I have booked 2 PNRs with Cathay Pacific since 26 June 2009 from India to Cairns Australia. I had made n number of requests to Cathay Pacific India & Hong Kong but seems no seat clearance on Hkg to Cairns sector CX103 N 15OCT HKGCNS HL3 2340 1405+1. I waited for 3-4months for confirmation and now they are saying please opt for other airline. I have made all my plans according to the booked tickets.

As per Cathay's Staff instructions while making booking they informed me that it will be confirmed in some days & today its more than 3 months

I cant believe that whole flight was over booked on 26th June 2009 and there are no cancellations?

I cant get it why would they not confirm HKG-CNS sector.

I request IATA / other associate organisation to take strict actions towards Cathay Pacific and get me confirmation on these CX PNRs : J95DN & J967H

Please help me how to work it out with Cathay Pacific for Confirmation in "N" class as originally booked

with best regards,
Sujay

Not sure what your problem is. That very flight Hong Kong to Cairns 15th Oct is available right now on Expedia for $1180.

the original poster is on a waiting list for a specific class of service to open up. "N" class could be a number of things on Cathay Pacific since each airline has their own letters for different classes of service. in this case i'm assuming their either waiting for an award fare to open up at the lowest amount of mileage or waiting for a discount business class fare to become available

for example on Delta F,J,C,A,D,R are all Business classes of service but at different fares, such as Y,B,M,H,Q,K,L,U,T,N,E are all coach classes of service but again with different fares.

all the original poster needs to do is either suck it up and pay the extra miles or pay the extra money and they won't be HL (holding waitlist) anymore they'll be HK (holding confirmed) on the cathay pacific flights they want.

If this is an award ticket the OP is trying to get, it is almost an impossibility to get these tickets on some airlines, and my experience is that Delta is one of the airlines that dont honour what is on their award charts. I have been able to get award seats on other airlines, e.g. American, but never on Delta. Everytime I tried to book an award ticket on Delta, they quote twice the number of miles that their award charts say. So I looked at tickets for several months away and I still can't get an award ticket except that it may be available for travel 2 or 3 days per month. Howeve its a fact I am prepared to face and still travel on Delta but only when their route/fare suits me, and I don't expect any award ticket although I still put in my skymiles number when I fly Delta. I have concluded that Delta's sky miles is just a scam, and this may well be the type of thing the OP is experiencing with Cathay Pacific.

Did the OP hear it on the phone or was it in an email or some other form?

i cant tell you how many times i have mistake, and other people misheard, a remark, maybe they said a few days before the flight

I have never had any trouble with Cathay, only flown them a few times, but everything was straight forward and understandable, however i can kind of understand what the OP stated, i had a connecting flight with them before and they used the same kind of airplane (747) and i chose the seat assignment for one flight and it appeared that i couldn't for the second flight, however they placed me in the same seat, so it wasn't too much of a hastle

and many asian based airlines will not offer up free upgrades or anything, and very few "special" tickets so the OP maybe waiting and hoping

I looked it up (using KVS availability tool) and N class seems to be a revenue class for CX and is indeed zeroed out for the flight and date the OP is waitlisted. If I were the OP I'd tell his travel agent to contact CX ASAP to go ahead and pay the difference. If it's not done outside of 7 days he probably won't qualify for that fare anymore and would probably have to pay for a super-expensive full-fare ticket.
