Default Air Canada Business Fare Abuse

May 31st, 2008

Dear Mr. Brewer,

Re: Aeroplan *********

On May 26th 2008 I travelled to London Heathrow on AC 856 – a new Boeing 777 (seat 5K). On Fiday May 30th 2008 I returned to Toronto on AC 849 (also seat 5K). This aircraft was an older Boeing 767, maybe ex-CP, with old style seating, no TV screens, no power outlets to run a laptop and a video system that continuously broke down. If I had been on the overnight YYZ to LHR flight on this aircraft, having paid a business fare, expecting a flat bed, I would have been furious, and I presume that those who had been on that flight were led to believe there would be up to date facilities. It was bad enough that I too had paid a business fare and had to endure the deficiencies on this aircraft, including the use of my laptop. Frankly, British Airways ‘World Traveler Plus’ has far better facilities at a fraction of your fare.

Please explain to me how you have the gall to charge a business fare for such a disagreeable experience.

Yours truly,

OK, first of all, when you book at Air Canada it shows the type of aircraft you will be flying on. You said that if they had used the 767 for the overnight flight you would be mad because of no flat bed - did it ever occur to you that maybe that's why they used it on a daytime flight? Also when did Air Canada tell you there would be a laptop port on the 767? They didn't, did they?

Air Canada is getting rid of their 767's, and this actually was probably one of thier own, not an ex CP jet. In fact, they now do not show any 767's from LHR to YYZ.

You need to get a grip.
