Over 4 hours on tarmac JFK, over 2 hours @ gate
I do not know who will read this message but if by chance it is someone researching Delta, or a customer service damage control person I would like to talk to either. On July 20th I boarder Delta flight 135 out of JFK direct to ATL, there was no mention of delay, and any effort to talk to the counter reps was quickly discouraged by a VERY negative and hateful attitude. The flight boarded shortly before 7pm for an anticipated 7:10 departure, however because of the obvious confusion and attitudes of the staff we knew there was some delay. Upon boarding the captain did tell us of a short delay due to paperwork and trying to get the info from the ladies at the counter. (He stated it a bit different but the message was clear to all that saw what was happening)
We almost immediately were told that everything was in order and we had obtained a new ATC clearance due to weather and would make up time in the air. Then we sat, for over two hours. This was caused by another plane that was placed behind ours as all this was taking place. Then when we tried to get taxied we had to wait for another two hours as others leaving behind were given clearance. The plane was short on supplies, water ran out, or was sparingly rationed, the planes entertainment system was not working, and it was in a heat warning day, all just added to the situation without any warning.
This was not a weather elated issue, it was not a “one-time” issue, and this was not due to JFK traffic, though that did play a role. This situation was solely the incompetence and neglect for a major corporation to conduct business in a responsible way. The customers are paying for incompetent management, bad attitudes that have apparently generated a departmental war within Delta leaving passengers at risk and at the mercy of a compassionate few within Delta that actually try to care. We landed after this ordeal to find that all of the later flights from JFK were all on-time or close to it and the passengers had come and gone. Only our flight had this confusion, I felt abused.
Is there intelligent life that cares at Delta in management?
