Unhappy AirTran Airways - Nightmare

AirTran Airways out of Orlando was a nightmare on Friday, February 22, 2008. After having our flight "closed" while we were standing at the door to the jet-way to the plane, we watched for nine hours as delayed and overbooked flights and unscruplous business practices denied flights to ticketed passengers with seat assignments.
If we really want to torture terrorists, make them fly AirTran Airways.
My advice? Avoid AirTran Airways. The customer service is non-existant and the logistics are impossible to follow and probably hazardous. My prediction? AirTran Airways will be bankrupt within five years.

I can't agree more. I had two flights on AirTran this past weekend, Feb 22 & 24th. Both days flights departed before they were posted and I was at the gate prior to departure as the doors were already closed and they had given up my seats to others they 'oversold' the flight to. customer service was insulting and completely unhelpful. Feel free to email me your information as I am gathering info for a class action suit. They are required to offer 2X your flights value in vouchers and up and down the terminal they gave nothing to customers on Sunday with perfect weather. I have NEVER witnessed such poor customer service.

Doors close 10 minutes prior to scheduled departure of the aircraft. Seats are given away to stanbys at this time. This is clearly stated on the website

It's also stated on the boarding pass. If you had actually been in the gate area when boarding was called, why didn't you board? Could it be that you weren't there at least 10 minutes prior to departure?

Arrow Sure, blame the consumer.

Airtran Airways is EXTREMELY unprofessional. The STATION MANAGER in San Francisco CA referred to my mother and I "B*!@#es" because we wanted to know why they wouldn't accept our bags to be checked.

I have absolutely no reason to doubt onus for this mishap belongs on Airtrans.

Hey Airtranisawful - I have posted this on your other post, but just to be complete - I personally know the station manager in SFO and I can tell you that she did not use that word (or any other profanity) to a passenger.
