15 hour wait at airport!!!
My flight was booked for 8/7/16 on Air Canada leaving Vancouver at 8:20pm, to arrive at LAX at 11:23pm. I arrived at the airport 3 hours ahead of time, as suggested, and proceeded to wait. Around 8pm we boarded the aircraft and SAT THERE for 3 hours!!! The Captain and crew were very limited and said "checking on mechanical issues". NO FOOD WAS OFFERED, those who asked, received bags of nuts. I called my wife 5X to inform of continued delays, when she advised me that after 90 minutes, they are supposed to allow us off the plane, I inquired with air hostess who seemed rude and agitated. After another half hour the Captain spoke on intercom as my wife listened and basically said "We know you all are frustrated, but WE are frustrated, too" and then said another plane was requested and we will all have to get out and reload into that plane. We all still waited and it had been 3 hours at this point sitting in the idle plane. Another 30 minutes and Captain says "Oh, we just have been informed that new plane can't take you to LAX because immigration will be closed at the time you arrive" which would now be around 3:35AM.
Everyone was now starving, thirsty and exhausted. Not a single crew member seemed to be around and noone even offered food/water until after 3 hours, we were told that we would get vouchers for meals from the only open food places at airport (coffee shop and Wendys).
There were only 2 booking agents to handle the entire full plane of passengers who now needed to be rebooked tickets and hotel accommodations for night. The line was SO long and slow and I was having severe abdominal cramps (went to Kaiser as soon as left airport today). By the time my turn came in line, was advised ALL HOTELS ROOMS TAKEN and everyone left (about half the plane) were stranded, on their own to figure things out. Not even a blanket or pillow to sleep on dirty floor was given. At the end of it, having arrived at 5pm 8/7/16 for flight, sitting in plane for over 3 hours, standing in lines for food and re-booking for next flight, it was almost 3:30am when "my turn" came up since only 2 crew members handling rebooking. To be told, no hotels available. You can cancel flight, if you want to... that's it.
I sat in chair, waited until new flight at 8:20am 8/8/16. 15 HOURS WAIT and the crappiest service ever!
Compare this to Delta power outage today: Pizza's delivered to passengers, a sincere apology and immediate support with blankets, comfort, food, assistance and all staff shown working together!
