Default Web Fares vs Call Center Fares

Web fare from PHL>DTW = $908 first class
Call Center fare for the same = $1900

This is predatory. USAir charges a $25 fee for talking to a reservation specialist - and that I do not disagree with. But why SCREW customers with such wide gaps in prices? Is it fair, or even moral to charge ONE THOUSAND dollars more for a phone call?
