Angry American Hides Mechanical Delays as Ground Traffic

American Airlines contumaciously hides mechanical problems behind "weather" and "traffic control" so they don't have to compensate travelers. I had this happen again this evening on a flight from St. Louis to Chicago. The pilot readied the cabin and pushed the plane back to meet an "on time departure" only to stop due to a problem with the windshield. We waited on the tarmac just back from the gate to get cleared to fly. This took 20 minutes was just long enough to loose our place in line and we waited another 20 minutes to take off. This left us getting in late and a missed connection They were unable to book me until the following day and did not take responsibility for the mechanical issue that was the root cause of the delay.
