Disabled passenger abandoned at Ataturk airport
TK-25983 is the confirmation number of the complaint I have filed already.
On September 23, 2016 and after I had requested wheelchair service for my 80year old mother, she boarded flight TK0002 scheduled to depart at 7:15pm from JFK with final destination Athens-Greece via Ataturk airport. She was put on a wheelchair and escorted at the gate by airport personnel. The flight departed two hours later from the scheduled time. Consequently she missed her connecting flight in Istanbul.
At the exit of the airplane in Istanbul there was NO wheelchair awaiting for her, as her ticket provided, NOR airport personnel to escort her at the respective gate. She was supposed to be in flight TK1849 flying at 13:10pm and she was re-booked for flight TK1843 scheduled to depart 7:15. I should note here that this 80year old passenger suffers from rheumatoid arthritis, she has limited mobility as well as high blood pressure.
At JFK Turkish Airline personnel also guaranteed that a translator would be available at Ataturk airport to assist my mother since she can only communicate in Greek. Suffices to say that NO translator was available either.
This disabled passenger, after two hours delay at JFK and more than nine-hours long flight while waiting for six hours at Ataturk airport she was NOT offered water or food.
In addition to having asked for compensation for putting in grave danger a disabled passenger I will explore ANY legal action I can possibly take against your company.
