BA Horrible Service
We were kicked off our flight last night by BRITISH AIRWAYS SOUTH AFRICA who seems to pick and choose when you need a transit visa and when you don't. Met a few people who changed flights at Heathrow earlier this year without requiring this visa en route to Europe.. this time round they were kicked off with us. We were told by BA staff that they kick off many people every day...if this is such a big issue then why does BA make no attempt to warn you of the UK transit visa if you just spend 1 hour at the airport without going through passport control??? They sent several emails warning about South African rules but nothing about this ridiculous visa. The worst of it all is how the staff treats the unlucky/uninformed people who end up in this situation. They grin at you and take you to the the booking desk where nothing is said..the guy took our passports, copied it and told us we are marked as No Shows..just like that all our money down the drain and it cost is R30000 to get new tickets for today!! Yes we made a mistake by being uninformed but the unprofessionalism of British Airways staff is disgusting.
