Unhappy Swiss Airlines Lost Baggage

My flight originated from Washington Dulles International Airport, United Airlines Flight 936 to Zurich on 23 December 2010. I only checked one bag. I landed in Zurich on 24 December 2010, for an approximate two hour layover after which time I boarded Swiss Airlines Flight 1800 to Istanbul, Turkey. I verified in Washington and Zurich that the bag was checked through to Istanbul. Upon arrival I discovered that my bag was not on the flight. I immediately filed a report at the local lost and found. I waited for two additional flights from Zurich to land so that I could see if my bag was on either flight. It was not. After nearly two days of attempting to locate my luggage, I was not able to gather any information as to its whereabouts. United Airlines claims that they transferred the luggage to Swiss Airlines in Zurich. Swiss Airlines has no record of the bag and everyone from the local Airport to Zurich representatives cannot find where the bag was ever in the airline's possession. My complaint is that the bag is clearly identifiable with name, address and phone number, as well as the tracking tag which makes it unacceptable that an airline cannot locate it in the system at all. I hope that by lodging the complaint on this website as well as others it will lead to some type of assistance in locating my bag.

We had a similar problem connecting from a Swiss flight from Newark to Madrid. We were whisked away to our connecting flight in time -we made it, our bags did not. It has been a nightmare trying to get through to Madrid lost and found as well as Zurich. Our routing was not changed, all they had to do was put it on the next flight to Madrid but there is absolutely no information from the airline (we were flying in Business class, to make matters worse!)

I would contact the CEO direct to see if you get a response. His email is [email protected] That is the only way I got a timely response from Swiss International Airlines
