Thumbs down Reservation cancelled behind my back!

This may be a first, at least I have never ever heard before about such behaviour: On Aoril 28 I booked a flight for me and a cat I am adopting from Morocco to fly on June 30 from Fez via Barcelona to Luxemburg.
As their policy regarding cats seemed a tad unusual (they demand the container in which the cat travels to be non-rigid which does not seem to make much sense, I mean how are you supposed to fix a water tray on a non-rigid container?) I mailed their customer service and asked them if they could specify what exactly are carriers that are acceptable.
The answer from Vueling I found tonight in my bank statements: Instead of having the courtesy to reply they simply cancelled my reservation and refunded my payment!
The refund was initiated on May 4, however, they did not even have the courtesy to let me know about it! No email, nothing, which means that had I not come across the refund checking my bank statements I would have arrived at the airport with the poor animal ready to travel just to be told I had no reservation.
And probably could pay now four or five times the fare which I had paid for...
I've never have seen an airline more reckless than Vueling, and I had countless flights with airlines that are blacklisted by the EU. What a disgusting way of making extra cash - or is it just the ignorance of staff who don't speak enough english to reply to an email in english?
Does anybody have an idea if they can pull these foul tricks just like that or is there a way to sue them?
