Mobster like scam
I have never been so annoyed by a companies behavior.
We purchased tickets to fly home with the family at the Holiday. After paying for our flight I noticed there were no seat assignments. When I called to make sure we had seats I was told they couldn't assign seats until the day of travel. When I explained that that was unacceptable and that I was traveling with 4 children I was told not to worry I had tickets and they could handle it at the gate. When I said that was unacceptable, they "generously" offered to charge me an additional $39/ ticket in order to assign specific seats on the flight for which they had already sold me confirmed tickets. That is the short version of what became a 4 hour conversation with 5 different representative.
United tactics are appalling. I have no problem with big business making money, but at least try not to act like mobster thugs. If you agree to sell me something for a price honor it. United try's to bate and switch. Hoping that others will pay more for seats that they sell multiple times and knowing that we are at their mercy once we show up at the airport. Or worse running a protection racket where they need you to pay a little something extra to be sure you and your kids will be able to get on the plane for which you've already paid the agreed upon fare...
