Angry wrong food and insult for religion.

I had recently travelled from brussels to chicago. It was my first experience with AA. We had booked our tickets through our travel agent but travel agent forgot to put Hindu Vegetarian meal for my ticket and had only put for my husband's ticket.

While serving food one of the crew member came and asked about our meal types. At that time we came to know about the mistake done by our travel agent. we requested him o serve both of us hindu veg meal he dinied saying we have only one request for hindu veg meal. we agrred with him and asked him whether he has any salad or anything with him that he can serve us. He was ok with it and went back.

The another lady who was serving food gave is 1 hindu veg meal and another had chicken in it. while opening the cover of the container i asked my husband to double check with food as we don't eat nonveg and even eggs. when he saw the cover of container it had written as chicken. we asked that lady about it but she argued with us saying no its veg. we tried to explain her that its written on this plastic. I think she was more than 45 years and had to wear glasses while reading. she looked it o the packet and jst changed it. she not even told sorry or appologised. it was first time ever in my life that i was served non veg food. my religion was hurt very badly.

This is over-sensitive. Your agent made a mistake, the airline didn't. They tried and did accommodate you. In error, they handed you the wrong meal. How is this insulting your religion. It is just a mistake. You are perhaps too sensitive for the hurly burly of normal life and should stay in a darkened room, protected from such horrors!

Agree w/Jim that you are being too over sensitive by calling it an "insult to your religion". After all it was a mistake and doesn't appear to be done intentionally.
That said, I do agree that the FA should have apologized, especially after you had explained that you do not eat meat. Easy thing to do I guess!

@pattis. your argument is ridiculous.

How is your comment even relevant? Did that "someone lying in hospital bed" fly American Airlines and land up in the hospital? I suspect, no.

Your comment could be used to argue against pretty much ALL complaints on this forum. For instance, this someone you mention is in a graver situation than a person who misses his flight, or gets bumped of the flight. So? does that mean people cannot complain about their experiences?

In flight, all types of passengers travels with each other that eat veg or non veg. So, i think this is not a insult. Just remember, if you eat veg then take a order of vegetarian food.

Unhappy Airline response on above matter.

Thanks all. This shows of world think when it comes to somebody's religion. never mind its ok.

But the worst part that after lodging complaint on specifically American airline site the Customer Relations handling officer Vanessa Villerot wrote me apologing mail on 21Nov11. She said, "We regard all customer feedback as a welcome opportunity to improve and are grateful you took the time to share the details of your recent experience with us."

Again she had mentioned in her mail that "Please give us another chance to prove ourselves, we hope to win back your respect. To encourage you to give us an opportunity to do so, we've sent you a transportation voucher under separate cover as a gesture of goodwill. The voucher is valid for 12
months from the date of issue on American Airlines, American Eagle, and any oneworld company, only in conjunction with a transatlantic flight on American Airlines. It can be used by yourself, a relative or a friend. It cannot be replaced after expiration and if stolen or lost and is non refundable. You will receive it in the post very soon." This are exactly their words which are jst copy pasted.

On 7Th of December I again mailed them as not receiving any so called voucher from them but they replied saying its on ITS way reaching to your home within few days. But I have not received till date

From this you can make out how careless they are. Its as simpler to say.

I absolutely agree that this shows that airlines can be careless and slow and provide poor service.

I wish you were humble enough to admit that there was no insult to your religion... but you are clearly not.
