Robbing the flight back?!
On 2. October I was to fly from Sofia to Vancouver via Munich (flight LH 1703) with my wife and our 3 y.o. child. My wife is Canadian, I am a Bulgarian citizen, having eTA to visit Canada. At the airport we were denied from boarding with explanation that our child is not authorized to fly, having neither eTA or travel visa. This said we tried immediately to change our reservations for a later date.
For our greatest disappointment we were told by the flight agency that we missed not only the flight to Muncih, but we are also loosing the tickets to Vancouver and even the flight back fixed on 2. May 2018!? Only some airport taxes would be refundabale. Although it is to some extent understandable to lose the reservations for the first two flights due to their mutual dependance I can not see the point in denying to use our reservations for the flight back. We have plenty of time and options to get to Canada until the beginning of May 2018. Why should we be robbed of our opportunity (and money) to use a pre-paid service causing no damage to the flying company?! Is this some kind of presumable damage for which the client is supposed to pay 6 months in advance?! Here I am trying not only to obtain some reasonable explanation of that case, which obviously is in result of some wicked corporative policy harming many clients, but to insist on my rights.
