Canceled then Delayed flight
We were supposed to fly back 7-18-11, but they canceled our flight the day before and booked us on another one the NEXT day, and didn't even tell us. I had received an email when our -outgoing- flight was changed, which included a link to go to and click if I was OK with the change. I receive nothing of the sort when the return flight was rebooked. Instead we found it online when we tried to check in.
Continental and United recently merged but weren't yet "fully" merged, so they each sent us to talk to the other counter, neither wanted to take responsibility and try to help us. We were unable to fly back on 18th, b/c -everything- was full, even stand by, so we had to pay for a hotel (thought the Airline should spot us the hotel since they had rebooked us, and some Airlines do that) and fly back on the 19th, thus missing a day of work, which I wouldn't get paid for.
On the 19th, we got to the airport 2 hours early, and our flight was already delayed! First by 10 min (and they never did update the actual departure time by the gate), then half an hour, and then by and HOUR. So instead of an hour and a half layover, we had less than half an hour and had to literally RUN to the next gate (not a short distance), with our bags, and barely made the boarding in time.
Every single time I have traveled on Continental, at least one of the plains was delayed. Once in a while b/c of weather or technical difficulties I could understand, but EVERY time???
