Undisclosed Change Fee
WHILE I WAS INFORMED THAT MY (5) tickets would be assessed an "exorbitant" $150 change fee, I still went ahead and cancelled the rest of my vacation package to Cancun and rebooked everything to Miami. I was told to rebook the flights and call the AA Change area with my record locator number. It was not until the final stages of the submission of the change of the flights that the Representative informed me that there was an additional $25 per ticket charge because I did not book my original flights directly with AA-WHAT???? This fee was not disclosed to me EVER while discussing flight changes and I had NO CHOICE at this point but to feel trapped and accept this since all of the other reservations had been changed. Had this "additional" fee been disclosed when the initial "fees to change" were inquired about, ALL change fees would have been taken into consideration with the other cancellation/change fees involved. This was a very unexpected expense and an unacceptable business practice when there is no other option to be taken. How convenient.... As a first time American Airlines customer, purchasing 5, yes 5 tickets, this has been a very bad experience. This is especially a bad practice since I work with a major financial institution/brokerage firm that is worldwide and works with mulltiple travel agencies.
