Default Stop being ridiculous people.

Too many of the Alaskan Airline staff seemed crazy, like they wanted me to be a ***** or a terrorist just for their own drama. I wasn't the only female passenger they made EXTREMELY uncomfortable. I observed a woman literally run from airline staffers as they converged on her in the gate lobby for no sound reason at all. I had to move across the room and hide in a crowd to get away from them myself. It was CRAZY.

Also, important to note, I don't think the woman checking ID's at the carry on check point knew her job. Let me make this clear: I am a 38 year old, hard working woman, law abiding US citizen, and veteran. I dress appropriately and carry two government issued ID cards that require extensive background checks before issuing, and one valid US driver's license at all times. The woman at the check podium wouldn't accept the first valid ID I gave her because she was 'surprised that someone like me had it'. Listen, I don't shock easy but the comments that women made were beyond inappropriate.

Again, the whole experience was backward-arsed and just way too much for NO REASON WHATSOEVER.

STOP BEING RIDICULOUS PEOPLE.

Ok.... before we post nonsense such as this, why don't you put a little more detail into it first, because this makes absolutely no sense what's so ever. Well all accept the second paragraph involving TSA.... but even that statement is a bit off the wall.

Do you often run and hide from strangers who are menacing and chasing you in a crowd of people? I've got news for 'ya hun...they're not real and neither are the voices. Please, get some help.

PHX: Regarding the last sentence, in post #3, of this thread, specifically--

Please, get some help.

Hopefully you might agree what is bizarre is in the eye of the beholder. If a single less than 100% coherent writing was the sole criteria for psychiatric care then better than half the country would be "crazy" according to you. You became, rightfully, annoyed when a poster in another thread used a comment like this against you. Your comment, at the time, was:

I'm mentally ill? Sick? I should seek professional help? Are you an MD who can render such a diagnosis? If not, then keep it to yourself.

See post #10 at:http://www.airlinecomplaints.org/sho...=8857#post8857

So why is it ok to treat others in a way you do not want to be treated?

One entirely rational explanation for this behavior was that this woman needed to make her flight, and putting as much "distance" between herself, and a possibly hostile gate staff, was one way of avoiding denial of boarding for bogus reasons.

As I've previously said, calling advocates for passenger rights mentally ill is a strategy the airlines apparently use. Kate Hanni (Coalition For Airline Passenger Bill of Rights) has been called crazy by American Airlines (she is suing them over what amounts to unlawful imprisonment during a 9+ hour tarmac delay in Austin.)

It's not my desire to start another "war." I just think it's possible for people to civilly disagree as the moderator has suggested.

I am going to go out on a limb here and assume that the second paragraph is describing the TSA agent and the security checkpoint. There are some agents in some airports who will only accept a driver's license. My DOT credentials can get me into any secure portion of the airport including the tower, however, there are some TSA agents at Dulles airport who will not let me use them to go through the checkpoint using that ID. I have to show my drivers license. My advice is just to show the DL and avoid a scene. And think about it this way, the agent may not be positive about you other form of ID and erred on the side of safety when asking for another form of ID.

I'm not sure what form of ID this person was attempting to use, but it seems to me from the wording of the post that it was done more to impress (hey, look at me - I'm with the FBI, CIA, NSA, whatever) than to merely get through the security checkpoint. Unless there was some need to show whatever credential she had then a driver's license or passport would have been sufficient. She said she had a driver's license so why didn't she just show that to begin with?

Butch, I'm not a psychiatrist, but I play one on TV. Just kidding. All joking aside, you must admit the wording and vagueness of this post was odd. I have flown Alaska Airlines for years and have flown from at least a dozen different airports on Alaska. I've never encountered any staff who would even seem threatening or "crazy" in any way. Does this statement sound "normal" to you?

I mean, c'mon. *****? Terrorist? My comments were meant to be a humorous take on the ridiculous nature of this post unlike the comment in the post you reference which was clearly a personal attack. An attack, I may add, by someone who hides behind that screen name in order to do so.

Someone who posts such nonsense leaves themselves open to criticism. If you were working in a face-to-face customer service job and someone said "(you want) me to be a ***** or a terrorist just for (your) own drama" would that not raise a red flag?

I honestly doubt this person will ever post here again. Like so many others we have seen come and go with a single post I think this person was just out for the shock value and nothing more. There were no details and no clue as to what this person was actually complaining about. Lets not waste any effort on these types and if some of us care to take a moment to humorously point out that the post is without merit then allow us a little levity to do so.

Actually, it wasn't. I seem to recall that I said either you worked for the airline industry in some capacity or that you were mentally ill. That's not a personal attack, it's simply deductive logic.

Nobody's "hiding" here. I don't publish my own personal details on this website because I have no desire to be blacklisted by the airlines or be hit with a zero-mile penalty for publicly criticizing them.

If you really feel this way, why not lead by example and publish your own full name and home address on this site so we can verify your claims not to have any ties to the airline industry? Besides, I'd love to stop by for a friendly chat the next time I'm in Phoenix.

It WAS quite humorous...and quite ridiculous.....

This person is just runnning off at the mouth and did not say what happened.....WHAT HAPPENED????? What did they do to make you (and all the other women) feel uncomfortable, like a ***** or a terrorist? WHY were you "hidding" from them. Tell us the whole story so YOU don't sound like the "crazy" one....'cause right now, you do!!!

Yes it was directed at the OP. It's all very interesting, considering that JD Powers just ranked Alaska Airlines #1 in service for the 2nd year in a row.

"Traditional Network Carrier Rankings
Alaska Airlines ranks highest in the traditional network carrier segment for a second consecutive year, and performs particularly well in five of seven measures: flight crew; aircraft; boarding/deplaning/baggage; check-in and reservation. Continental Airlines and Delta Airlines, respectively, follow Alaska Airlines in the rankings. Continental Airlines performs particularly well in the in-flight services and cost and fees measures.

“Alaska Airlines has made notable improvements in the courtesy and knowledge of its check-in staff from 2008,” said Haines."

When I travel for business releated reasons, I use my credentials to pass security since it is just easier to flip that open as opposed to pulling out the driver's license.

But as soon as tha tlook of confusion starts to cross the checker's face, I dig out the driver's license and try not to roll my eyes. I do not use the creds to impress, I use them for the sake of convienence.
