Ticket credit theft
Im hoping someone can help me. May of 09 some friends and I were gonna go to San Diego for the 4th of July. I have never reserved a flight for any reason and was iffy about messing something up so a friend of mine offered to buy them when she bought hers. I agreed and paid her for them. I ended up not being able to make the flight and cancelled it. But now I decided itwas time for a vacation and found out that my so called "FRIEND" used my tickets for a vaction in December. What can I do? Southwest can careless to help me and Im out all that money. Please give me some advice.

If your friend booked the flight, she would be the one to get the credit back since she paid Southwest for it. Your payment in this was to your friend, not Southwest, so they have nothing to do with that. And if the credits have been used, then there is nothing left for Southwest to do. And in reality what do you expect them to do? Let's look at this another way. Let's say you and I go to a clothing store, and I buy each of us a suit, then you pay me for your suit. But I later take your suit back and use the store credit for myself. Would you then go back to the store and expect them to deal with that? No. This is no different.
This is a matter between you and your friend for the money you paid, and you may have to consider small claims court to recover that money. |

Agree with Jetliner... your beef is with your friend, who sounds like a dishonest thief. I would choose my friends more carefully. Southwest have nothing to do with this.

No The tickets were under my name on my account thru southwest all she used was her card for payment. She used my credits by using my ticketless confirmation on her account in December there for stealing them. Anyone that knows southwest knows you just need the confirmation code and can apply those credits to any flight. So Southwest should do something. |

What she did constitutes fraud and is a crime. You shouldn't be going to SouthWest, you should be going to the Police.

Since she used her card to pay, everyone who mentioned that she is the one to go after is right, SWA credited the person who's charge card was used, just as any merchant would do.
I say call Judge Judy and take your "friend" (is she still a friend) to court. |

Most airlines have this policy - "TICKETS ARE NON-TRANSFERRABLE". Southwest DOES allow ticket transferability especially if the original passenger can't use the ticket anymore. That's why most people prefer SW because they're too lax on their policies. In this case, it's unfair on your part but you cannot take the blame on SW 'coz your friend knew that you paid for the ticket. You owned it.
Bottomline... it's your friend's fault and not the airline. You cannot expect SW to do something about it 'coz it's acceptable in their policy. What I can suggest? Ask your friend to give you back your money... If she won't do it, bring this to court. Hope this helps!
